"Running a large scale movement requires energy. And what can be more energetic than the food sanctified by Krishna or Krishna prasadam? When someone significant comes to our home, we prepare the best of dishes for that person. So how can we compromise in case of the supreme personality of godhead? Krishna prasadam is also known as Maha Prasadam. Eating prasadam makes one a true devotee of God. The best example for this is the messenger of the devtas- Narada muni. Owing to a curse he was born in a low family and his mother was the only bread winner at home as he had lost his father. His mother was a kind and generous lady. She would daily prepare food for the Brahmin pujaris of the village temple and Narada used to eat the left overs of the Brahmins. Over a period of time by eating the remanents of the food eaten by the Brahmins, Narada was blessed with Hari Bhakti which gradually developed in him and he is now known as one of the best devotees of Lord Krishna. Food offered to Krishna is Maha prasadam. But the left overs of true devotees is known as Maha Maha prasadam, because by eating it one becomes a true devotee of Lord Krishna as in the case of Narada muni.
In the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says " If one offers me a fruit, a flower, a leaf and a little water with devotion, I will accept it." Here the Lord himself says that He wants nothing but satvik food. The leaf mentioned above refers to the Tulsi leaf. Lord Krishna does not accept any eatables without Tulsi leaves. One must not offer non-vegetarian food, junk food, intoxicants etc to Krishna. One must not eat anything which is not worthy or which has not been offered to Krishna first.
In this way, by eating santified food one develops purity of mind and body and becomes a true devotee of Hari. As it is said "You are what you eat." If you eat inappropriate food, you will have inappropriate thoughts in your mind. The one who has inappropiriate thoughts does inappropriate actions. And the one who does inappropriate actions, degrades his existance is is sent to hell. The purpose of this valuable human birth is to develop true love for God- Krishna consciousness. Eating Krishna prasadam and chanting Hare Krishna are the best methods to fulfill the purpose of life. Hare Krishna!"
